Testing and measuring systems are defined by the sensor, the measuring devices and the fastening elements. Mounting considerations are critical when designing your system. Applying assembly best practices is also extremely important, especially when using multi-axis sensors. Distractions in the system can lead to errors and apparent crosstalk in the sensor measurement.
Mounting plates are used to secure the sensors during use. The plates should replicate how the sensor was calibrated. Therefore, if calibrated on rigid plates, these characteristics should be duplicated when using the sensor. The panels should be stiff because a weak panel attached at the corners may cause defects due to bending, such as: B. to an off-center load.

The plates must deflect evenly to minimize local deformation on the mating surfaces. You may need to use a double plate mount, also known as a sandwich mount. The base plate is designed to mate with the load cell and is made from mild steel. It distributes the load across the foundation or supporting structure and provides a prepared surface for the load cell.
The top plate distributes the load across the weighing structure and provides a hard surface for the load button. The top plate moves on the knob due to thermal expansion, load displacement, wind load and other side loads. The interface load cell's high side load capacity eliminates the need for expansion assemblies in most installations. Mounting plates are only suitable for pressure loads; they cannot properly support a universal load cell that is loaded in tension.
Interface recently introduced force plates. Interface Force Plates are a system of multiple multi-axis sensors mounted between two plates. They are ideal for larger capacities than single 6-axis sensors and can respond to high torques. Results depend on the characteristics of the panels and other system components, and for load application and larger sensors, you should consider in-situ calibration.
