Customer needs/challenge
A space company wants a system to measure the torque and force of the wheels of their rover spacecraft. You want those Torque measurements can monitor to determine whether the rover is moving or not when the engine is running. Force measurement is needed to monitor contact with the ground for ground control.
Interface solution
Interface recommends using the T14 Slip Ring Shaft Torque Transducer installed inside the rover's wheel next to the motor. To create a wireless system, the sensor is attached to the WTS-AM-1E Wireless Strain Bridge Transmitter Module, which wirelessly transmits the sensor's readings to the WTSBS-1 multi-transmitter handheld display or the customer's PC via the wireless Base station transmitted.
Results
Interface's torque sensor and wireless telemetry system (WTS) successfully measure the torque and forces of the rover wheels.

How It Works
- The T14 slip ring shaft torque sensor is installed in the rover's wheels and connected to the engine.
- The WTS-AM-1E Wireless Strain Bridge Transmitter Module is connected to the T14 and collects data results from the wheels when the rover is stationary or moving.
- The data results are transmitted wirelessly either to the WTS-BS-1 handheld display for multiple transmitters, or to the wireless base station WTS-BS-4 with USB interface and connected to the customer's PC or laptop.
