The devices of the force measuring amplifier / strain gauge amplifier series IFFDM2 are used for connection to strain gauge full bridges 6-wire technology*, with sensitivities from 0,2mV/V to 40mV/V and convert their signal into a standard signal 0…±10V, 0…±20mA or 4…20mA. Measuring bridges with a bridge resistance ≥120Ω can be used. Connecting several bridges in parallel is possible as long as the total resistance does not fall below 120Ω. The bipolar output allows both pressure and tensile forces to be measured. The external sense lines of the bridge supply ensure that a constant voltage is applied to the strain gauge sensor, even with long cable paths, and thus a high level of measurement accuracy. To adjust the zero point and the end range, the user has a 20-Gand spindle potentiometer for coarse and fine adjustment. In addition, the very coarse gain can be preset using 4 dip switches. The selection of the output signal and its transmission frequency is also done via dip switches. The devices are housed in a 22,5mm wide housing, which is suitable for mounting on a standard rail.
*at the 6-wire technology is transmitted by the amplifier two additional so-called sensor (SENSE) lines The incoming supply voltage is checked directly at the force transducer to see whether the supply voltage of, for example, 10 VDC is really stable at the force transducer (e.g. voltage losses may have occurred). If the supply voltage has dropped to 9,978 V during a measurement, possibly due to the influence of temperature, this would already result in an error of approx .mean -0,2%. In this case, a measuring amplifier in this higher-quality 6-wire version could increase the supply voltage accordingly and thus actively compensate for the error.
