Solutions for waste management applications
Interface measurement and sensor solutions are available in a wide variety of industries. When an object needs to be lifted or pulled, torque checked, or weight or load tested to monitor safety or performance, sensing technologies may be at play. interface load cells, Torque transducer, shackles and load pins are often used along with various types of instruments for these types of specialized measurement functions.
One industry that relies heavily on interface precision technologies for weighing, testing and measurement is waste management. This is an industry that requires the ability to measure various functions and materials, from hazardous waste management to recycling technologies, in order to function. Waste management uses interface sensors to provide routine, real-time data that provides accurate performance information for equipment ranging from garbage hauling vehicles to waste and storage containers.
The reason product designers and manufacturers of waste disposal equipment and vehicles choose Interface is because we provide high quality sensor components for accurate and reliable results they can rely on for this critical service.
The different types of equipment and vehicles used for various waste management functions must meet high standards to ensure the safety of users and consumers. It is also a requirement for maintaining proper use, production and hygiene tasks related to storage, treatment, reuse, recycling and disposal. Below are some application notes highlighting the use of Interface products used by our waste management customers.
Waste management – container weighing
A waste disposal company wanted to measure the capacity of its waste bins to know when it was time to dispose of waste. Interface Provided Model WTS 1200 Standard precision LowProfile™ wireless load cells installed at the bottom of each bin leg to measure the total weight of the bin. The real-time weight data is then transferred to the WTS-BS-100 USB Industrial Base Station using the included Log4 software. With this solution, the customer was able to determine when their waste container was at full capacity in order to dispose of the waste or reload it in a timely manner. Read more here.
Garbage truck weighing on board
When a waste management company wanted to test the loading capacity of its garbage bins to know when maximum capacity was reached, it turned to Interface to propose a system that could provide data in real time. Interface's solution was to customize and install four SSB Sealed Beam load cells under the bin body on both sides. As trash continues to build up in the box body, more force will be applied to the SSB Sealed Beam load cells. When the maximum load capacity is reached, the results can be reviewed and displayed in real time when connected to the battery powered bi-directional weight indicator 482. This customized system allowed the customer to test the maximum load capacity of the garbage bin attached to the truck, so they know when to empty the truck's garbage at the transfer station.
