Interfaceforce has been manufacturing more than 50 different types of load cells and mini load cells for over 60 years. The more or less correct translations of load cell are called load cell, even more simply a load cell, load cell, load cell, pressure cell, dynamometer or load cell. Many of these terms are still very common, but are still more colloquial terms for the correct term force transducer.
Many of these synonyms are used for relatively simple applications. The majority of force transducers are based on a so-called spring body, which is deformed by the action of a force.
Interface sensors use strain gauges (DMS for short), which are known in English as strain guage, which are manufactured in-house. These strain gauges help to create the most accurate and reliable data possible.
The glued strain gauges convert the expansion (deformation) into an electrical change in resistance. In order to be able to reliably measure the relatively small changes in resistance, 4 strain gauges or a whole multiple of them are connected together in a so-called Wheatstone bridge circuit.
To do this, it is necessary that 2 opposite strain gauges undergo the same changes and 2 adjacent ones undergo opposite changes in the correct sign. The electrical voltage change occurring on the measuring diagonal is increased to a higher level using a measuring amplifier, e.g. B. 10V, amplified and directly digitized in modern devices.
