A dynamometer often means a force transducer in an -S or -Z shape, which is preferably used in the pulling direction. This special design for dynamometers was manufactured in 1968 by the US manufacturer Interface Inc. and is now produced in large quantities in many different measuring ranges and designs.

Due to the sometimes extremely high measurement accuracy but still low price, S-form series are suitable for many OEM applications and also for use in test benches, testing machines and in automation technology as well as in the experimental area. Upon request, we can also offer you dynamometer versions that have a larger and compensated working and/or temperature range and ATEX (Ex area) approval.

Some dynamometer series are also offered with special measuring spring geometries with high (>1000% FS) overload safety. The protection works in both the tensile and compressive directions. The slightly higher purchase costs often pay for themselves after a very short time, especially for small measuring ranges.

From 10 kN upwards, the rotationally symmetric, low-profile force transducers (LowProfile™) offer increasing advantages, particularly for force measurements in fatigue testing. Based on the shear web or shear stress measurement principle, these robust low-profile force transducers offer high stiffness (short measuring stroke) and high natural frequencies for dynamic applications. The rotationally symmetric, low-profile sensors of these force transducers are particularly compelling due to their versatility, with a focus on test bench applications, for example, in the automotive and aerospace industries. A special mechanical calibration process minimizes crosstalk from parasitic loads.
