Choosing the right load cell must take into account the following criteria:
- Maximum force to be measured
- Static or dynamic load (fatigue strength)
- Direction of force (alternating load-tensile-compressive force)
- Smallest force to be measured (resolution)
- Influence of disturbance variables, e.g. E.g.:
- mechanical, such as bending moments from eccentricities,

- Temperature conditions
- Electrical and magnetic interference fields
