Specially developed load cells using 2-wire technology with an intrinsically safe and amplified output (4-20mA) are suitable for use in, among other things, oil fields and many other potentially explosive areas. These load cells are derived from other proven interface models, but with high-resistance strain gauges.
Intrinsically Safe Load Cell Model 3400
The 3400 Series is a family of load cells with various mechanical configurations, all with internal 4-20 mA 2-wire measurement amplifiers and a 4000-5000 ohm strain gauge bridge. All load cells in the family are intrinsically safe when installed according to the installation manual and certified by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt.
